Last week my co-worker asked me if I’d like to go with her to a Spin Class at her gym. I agreed despite my completely irrational fears surrounding fitness classes and “spinning” in general…because I like her, and she asked, and she had never been before either, and hey I SHOULD TRY NEW THINGS. All day I stressed about it because I’ve seen a spin class in action…mostly on Biggest Loser, and honestly, I hate sweating. I really do. I mean, I workout, and I always sweat when I work out, but those people on Biggest Loser look like they are spinning in the deserts of Mexico (Mexico has deserts right?!) and then, a lot of them puke, or even cry, and Bob always yells “COME ON MOSES, GET YOUR ASS UP OFF THAT BIKE!”
Anyway, I went. And now…I can’t stop going. My butt hurts the next day, oh man it really hurts, but I love the class. I feel awesome afterwards and my legs feel like noodles but I keep going back. I went on Wednesday too and then talked about how much I love spinning all day on Thursday which then convinced me to go again on Thursday night. So here I am, on Friday, thinking about how much I love spinning. I have no idea what is so great about it but its the first fitness related activity that I actually want to do. Co-Worker and I can’t stop talking about it, and our conversations about it go something like this:
Me: SPINNING!!! Oh my gosh I can’t stop thinking about it.
Her: I know. I love it so much.
Me: I have a crush on our instructor. Not the lesbian kind…well ok kind of the lesbian kind, but shes so awesome!
Her: HER ARMS!
Me: I know it. And the stuff she says, gosh its like, I dont know, I just love it. “Hard and Heavy now”
Her: Back in the saddle
Me: We are going downhill now. And Back up!
30 minutes passes…
Her: I just want to go to spin class right now.
Me: Me too! Oh my gosh I can’t stop thinking about it. We are spinners, we are like awesome spinning people.
Her: I know, we kickass. In 1 Year I want to teach a spin class.
Me: OH MY GOSH ME TOO!!! SO BADLY!!!
10 minutes passes…
Me: I love the music too.
Her: oh my gosh heck yeah! WHOO WHOO!
Me: its seriously so awesome, PUMPS ME UP!
Her: I know when it goes techno, its about to get serious.
Me: Oh my gosh. Daft Punk! I want Daft Punk for my spin class!
20 minutes later….
Her: Is it time to go home yet?
Me: I dont know, I hope so, I really want to go spin.
..some odd time passes…
Her: Is it 4′o clock?
Me: (yells loudly) I JUST WANT TO GO TO SPIN CLASS!
Her: WHOO WHOO!!!
**I’d like to formally apologize to our co-workers who are sick of us talking about spin class.
